Finding free foreclosure information is not easy. However, this is not to say that such information is not available. Foreclosure is a lucrative business and it is only relevant that the business is not laid open freely to everyone!

There are two major types of foreclosure listings: free listing and paid superscription listings. You should know the difference between these two listings as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

A website that offers paid subscription listings allows you to search for foreclosure homes and offers images and detailed descriptions of the homes. Their services are usually detailed and good.

A free listing website usually offers scanty information on the home. It may not contain the images of the house and some other important information such as location, price, and others may be missing. It is important to note that a free listing is usually not "free". Most of the websites that offer free listing services usually refer to their trial subscription as free. However, they will not give you all the information on a specific foreclosure. For instance, they may show give scanty details about the home while omitting important information. This is all to coerce you sign up for membership in order to get the full detailed information.

However, true free listing is exists. If you are patient in searching the internet and you put the required effort, you will find them. You have to act fast though since the foreclosures that are listed usually do not last long in the list. There is a very high competition for them.

Apart from searching free listing using search engines, you can also search real estate websites. Some of the websites list foreclosures that are available in their areas. To know which real estate website to look for, try asking your local bank which real estates firms work with foreclosures.

It is important to stay ahead of the competition when searching for foreclosures. You can increase your chances of getting first hand information on foreclosures by using paid subscription sites, real estate agents websites and free listing sites. Do not forget to look also for other published information like your local real estate journals.
