Where Do
You Find Free Foreclosure Listings?
By Kevin Simpson
Foreclosure listings can be found quite easily in several different areas.
Some of these places, though, can be had at a high cost, and even give you
out of date listings. Fortunately, because foreclosure homes listings are
public information, they can be found in a few areas for free. It will
cost you in time, but that can be minimized when you know where to look
and what to look for.
Foreclosure Listings In Newspapers
As a part of the purchase agreement with any lender, when there is a
Notice of Sale tendered to the home owner, it must be published in a
public forum for several weeks before the foreclosure date. Your local
newspaper will have these listings in the Public Notice section of the
paper. These are generally published quickly so you can be confident that
it is a pretty recent listing.
Foreclosure Listings In Public Records Office
As stated above, foreclosure homes listings are public records. Once a
Notice of Sale is issued, a copy is then filed with the public records
office in your county. The auction, if it comes to that, is also held
there, so they will have a large interest in giving access to these
notices.
Foreclosure Listings From Real Estate Agent
A real estate agent, especially one who specializes in foreclosures,
will have a ready supply of foreclosure homes listings. They will usually
be from the various places already mentioned and through the Multiple
Listing Service. Since is a paid service, that you can have access to
through the real estate agent. Working with an agent is also helpful when
you get ready to make your bid or find out information about the home.
As a home buyer, or investor, finding good foreclosure listings is
going to make a big difference in the outcome of your purchase. You don't
have to pay large costs for these listings when foreclosure homes listings
are easily found for free.
